A phenomenological analysis of the longitudinal structure function at small x and low Q 2

Abstract: The longitudinal structure function in deep inelastic scattering is one of the observables from which the gluon distribution can be unfolded. Consequently, this observable can be used to constrain the QCD dynamics at small x. In this work we compare the predictions of distinct QCD models with the recent experimental results for F L (x, Q 2 ) at small x and low Q 2 obtained by the H1 collaboration. We focus mainly on the color dipole approach, selecting those models which include saturation effects. Such models… Show more

“…For comparison, we also present the prediction obtained using the Altarelli-Martinelli equation and the GRV98 parameterization for the solution of the DGLAP evolution equation (for details see Ref. [45]). In this case we have that the KKT parameterization describe reasonably the few data available [47], similarly to the GBW and IIM parameterizations.…”

“…The analysis of the behaviour of the longitudinal structure function F L (x, Q 2 ) in the saturatation models was done in Ref. [14] 3 . In Fig.1 we demonstrate our k T −factorization description of F L (Q 2 ) at fixed W with the unintegrated gluon distribution proposed in Ref.…”
