“…Chlorogenic acid (CA) has antifungal [16], neuro-protective [17], cell immune responses [18] and hepatic glucose output effects [19]. Also, it is known to inhibit tumor cell invasion and metastasis [20]. Caffeic acid has antiulcer [21], anti-inflammatory [22] antioxidant [23] and anti-HIV [24] activities.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge this is the first study reporting the anti-invasive activity of extracts of Taraxacum species and especially of TO. The exact reason for the reduction in invasion can not be explained at present, as many of the known components in the roots and leaves can contribute to the observed effect (27)(28)(29) and this also depends on the composition of the extracts of the studied species.…”

“…The active n-BuOH fraction was subfractionated using Diaion HP-20 resin with 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% methanol, and five fractions were obtained: fraction 1 (6.6 g), fraction 2 (2.1 g), fraction 3 (3.7 g), fraction 4 (3.8 g), and fraction 5 (1.5 g). Finally, protocatechuic acid (peak 1, Gerothanassis et al 1998), chlorogenic acid (peak 2, Jin et al 2005), 3,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (peak 4, Choi et al 2004), 1,3,5-tri-O-caffeoylquinic acid (peak 6, Agata et al 1993), and kaemferol-3-O-rutinoside (peak 8, Choi et al 2004) were isolated and identified as active principle compounds from fractions 3 and 5 by Sephadex LH-20 with 50% MeOH guided by Oil Red O staining in 3T3-L1 cells (Jang et al 2016) (Figure 1). And other four unknown compounds (peak 3, 5, 7, and 9) were isolated from fractions 2 and 4.…”
