A pH-Stable TbIII-Based Metal–Organic Framework as a Turn-On and Blue-Shift Fluorescence Sensor toward Benzaldehyde and Salicylaldehyde in Aqueous Solution

Abstract: A new polydentate tetracarboxylic acid with a benzothiadiazole unit (4′,4′′′-(benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,7diyl)bis([1,1′-biphenyl]-3,5-dicarboxylic acid), H 4 BTDBA) has been used to prepare a pH-stable three-dimensional Tb III -based metal−organic framework (MOF) with the formula {[(CH 3 ) 2 NH 2 ] 0.7 [Tb 2 (BTDBA) 1.5 (lac) 0.7 (H 2 O) 2 ]•solvents} n (Hlac = lactic acid, JXUST-19). JXUST-19 exhibits a new (4,4,12)-connected topology based on tetranuclear [Tb 4 ] clusters. JXUST-19 can remain stable when … Show more

“…Fluorescence sensing detection of toxic species in environmental and ecological systems with high sensitivity, stability, simplicity, and low cost is considered to be one of the most promising detection methods. , The luminescent coordination polymer (CP) materials with favorable operability, high selectivity, and sensitivity have excellent applications in this field . To date, many fluorescent CP sensors have been explored to detect nitro compounds, antibiotics, small organic molecules, metal cations and anions, such as rare-earth , and transition-metal-based CPs. …”

“…The volatile organic molecules including organic solvent molecules have a high vapor pressure and are very hazardous to human health. 94 Therefore, the recognition of these molecules is extremely important. In this regard, Zhang and co-workers performed an excellent study on the multi-colored “turn-on” detection of a variety of VOCs using a silver-chalcogenolate cluster-based MOF, Ag 12 bpy.…”

“…Many MOFs reported as ideal candidates for capturing CO 2 were synthesized at the laboratory scale, and others with high-scale production are mostly microcrystals or power. [21][22][23] The synthesis of new MOFs possessing both high CO 2 capture and relatively scalable production with good crystallinity should be of practical value because the changes in their frameworks in the gas sorption process could be fully detected via X-ray single crystal analysis. The scale-up synthesis of 2 was carried out in a seal tube (Fig.…”
