A Pervasive Health System Integrating Patient Monitoring, Status Logging, and Social Sharing

Abstract: In this paper, we present the design and development of a pervasive health system enabling self-management of chronic patients during their everyday activities. The proposed system integrates patient health monitoring, status logging for capturing various problems or symptoms met, and social sharing of the recorded information within the patients community, aiming to facilitate disease management. A prototype is implemented on a mobile device illustrating the feasibility and applicability of the presented work… Show more

“…This data is analyzed and sent to a server upon any relevant perceived change [12]. A similar architecture is presented in [13], although the collected information is further enriched by the patients' own status logging and social network messaging information. “…It also provides the capability to interoperate with multiple systems and ensures a secure access to patient's medical data. Another research work conducted by Andreas et.al [16] proposed a pervasive health system that allows patients with chronic pain to self manage their health throughout their daily activities. This system can monitor patient's health, capture status logging and also share their data within patient's community.…”
