(Background) Autism increasingly requires a multidisciplinary approach that can effectively harmonize the realms of diagnosis and therapy, tailoring both to the individual. Assistive technologies (ATs) play an important role in this context and hold significant potential when integrated with artificial intelligence (AI). (Objective) The objective of this study is to analyze the state of integration of AI with ATs in autism through a review. (Methods) A review was conducted on PubMed and Scopus, applying a standard checklist and a qualification process. The outcome reported 22 studies, including 7 reviews. (Key Content and Findings) The results reveal an early yet promising interest in integrating AI into autism assistive technologies. Exciting developments are currently underway at the intersection of AI and robotics, as well as in the creation of wearable automated devices like smart glasses. These innovations offer substantial potential for enhancing communication, interaction, and social engagement for individuals with autism. Presently, researchers are prioritizing innovation over establishing a solid presence within the healthcare domain, where issues such as regulation and acceptance demand increased attention. (Conclusions) As the field continues to evolve, it becomes increasingly clear that AI will play a pivotal role in bridging various domains, and integrated ATs with AI are positioned to act as crucial connectors.

В представленном научном обзоре публикаций из наукометрической базы PubMed обсуждены современные доказательства ассоциации расстройств аутистического спектра у детей с генетическим дефицитом фолатного цикла. Рассмотрена доказательная база оксидативного стресса, иммунной дисфункции и связанной с этим иммунной дизрегуляции, инфекционного, аутоиммунного, аллергического и иммуно-воспалительного синдромов в контексте иммунозависимых механизмов поражения ЦНС у детей с расстройствами аутистического спектра. Отдельный раздел статьи посвящен результатам применения противовоспалительных, иммуномодулирующих и иммунотерапевтических вмешательств у детей с аутизмом. В конце статьи намечены наиболее приоритетные направления дальнейших клинических испытаний в области нейроиммунологии расстройств аутистического спектра у детей. Статья будет полезна детским психиатрам, детским неврологам, клиническим иммунологам, медицинским генетикам, педиатрам и семейным врачам, которые задействованы в оказании медицинской помощи детям с аутизмом. In the presented scientific review of publications from the PubMed scientometric database, modern evidence of the association of autism spectrum disorders in children with a genetic folate cycle deficiency is discussed. The evidence base of oxidative stress, immune dysfunction and associated immune dysregulation, infectious, autoimmune, and allergic and immunoinflammatory syndromes in the context of immune-dependent mechanisms of CNS damage in children with autism spectrum disorders is considered. A separate section of the article is devoted to the results of the use of anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and immunotherapeutic interventions in children with autism. At the end of the article, the most priority areas for further clinical trials in the field of neuroimmunology of autism spectrum disorders in children are outlined. The article will be useful to pediatric psychiatrists, pediatric neurologists, clinical immunologists, medical geneticists, pediatricians and family practitioners involved in providing medical care to children with autism.

The link that might exert reliable control over morbidity, mortality and disabling rates as well as significantly optimize the efficacy of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) treatment for those who had fallen ill and for persons-at-risk is Personalized & Precision Medicine (PPM). Since there are significant molecular and neurobiological overlaps among ASD-related clinical phenotypes, tar-geted and/or smart (intelligent) treatments developed for a specific ASD subtype, may be help-ful in ASD of unknown etiology. Recent changes in diagnostics criteria have contributed to the broadening of the ASDs and left clinicians ill-equipped to treat the highly heterogeneous spec-trum that now includes toddlers and children with sensory and motor issues. And the biomarker discovery and thus the biomarker-driven drug design have the potential to tailor therapeutic inter-ventions to fit individualized ASD-related conditions in order to receive maximum benefits. This review summarizes the current advances in ASD biomarkers and discusses the potential imple-mentation of biomarkers in PPM-affiliated areas in the context of ASDs, whilst stressing the im-pact of PPM as the Science and ART and illustrating application of the different tools of the next step generation at the population, community and individualized levels.
