Abstract:This article consists of investigating the play Salome, written by Oscar Wilde in 1891. Appearing for the first time in the New Testament, the biblical story surrounding Herodias' daughter, found in the Gospels of St. Matthew and St. Mark, appears personified in the image of the femme fatale in the finissecular nineteenthcentury period.
