A participação do Brasil no Congresso de Segurança : 1945 - 2011

Abstract

This Master degree dissertation aims to analyze Brazil's participation in the Security Council of the United Nations. The main objective is to find continuities and discontinuities in the positions held by the country in the Council. Aiming to find the reasons for the continuities, the principles that guide Brazil's foreign policy are presented at the beginning of the work. After that, it will be made a factual analysis of the positions the country took along its ten participations in the Council. The basis of this analysis is the historical method. After the research, it is possible to say that there is no complete continuity in Brazil's positions regarding the world issues discussed in the Council. Furthermore, it is also possible to say that Brazil gradually gained more autonomy in the positions it advocated for in the Security Council.
