A palladium(0)–threonine complex immobilized on the surface of magnetic mesocellular foam: an efficient, stable, and magnetically separable nanocatalyst for Suzuki, Stille, and Heck cross-coupling reactions

Abstract: In this study, a new palladium nanocatalyst was supported on l-threonine functionalized magnetic mesocellular silica foams (MMCF@Thr-Pd) and was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, BET, SEM, EDS, VSM, TGA, ICP-OES and elemental mapping techniques.

“…In a recent contribution by the Rostami group, the synthesis and the catalytic application of a Pd 0 complex immobilized on a magnetic mesocellular silica foam (mSiO 2 -foam) have been described. [103] The catalyst synthesis was started with the fabrication of MCF-silica by reacting Pluronic P123 in an HCl solution with NH 4 F, 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene, and TEOS (40 °C and then 100 °C, 20 h each). Additional modification included a reaction with Fe(NO 3 ) 3 in methanol and the product, after drying, was treated with propionic acid (90 °C, 3 h) and then calcined (300 °C, 30 min).…”
