A Numerical Study on the Effect of Position and Number of Openings on the Performance of Composite Steel Shear Walls

Abstract: Use of composite steel shear walls (CSSW) in earthquake-resistant structures has grown in recent years. However, no thorough information exists on their performance, especially in cases where openings are present. In the present study, in order to first validate the analysis method, ABAQUS was used to model the studied composite shear wall with gap at UC-Berkeley, according to the results of which, a good agreement between the experimental and analytical models was observed. Then, the effect of the position an… Show more

“…The efficiency and workability of ANFIS was measured based on two parameters (R 2 and MSE) according to the previous research [30][31][32]. Neural network has the best workability when the value of R 2 is near to 1 and the RMSE value is close to zero.…”

“…For this purpose, the Young's modulus between (15 GPa to 30 GPa) are considered and different points in different areas of the frame are chosen. The software ABAQUS is used as the analysis tool [17]. A tie is used to paste the insulating layers to concrete according to the proposal of composite material; moreover, a nonlinear dynamic analysis is applied.…”

“…Concrete panels were used as out layers panels, which were connected to the polystyrene plate. In order to this aim, using Tie connection in constrain part, according to the previous researchers for composite material [17][18]. After joining these two panels, ABAQUS assume them as composite pieces which have both features (concrete and polystyrene).…”

“…In 2018, Zhang studied the correlation between compressive strength and flexural strength of pavement geopolymer; 20 groups of samples were made for this research. Mechanical test were employed for determining compressive and fractural strength; ultimately, the linear relationship between compressive and flexural strength were calculated in this research [12].Using RMSE, MSE and 2 to obtain the accuracy of relationship in predicting method is common in different researches for example: Badarloo et al studied the effect of position and number of openings on the Performance of composite steel shear walls and in this study , authors used RMSE and 2 to evaluate neural network method [13]. Khotbehsara et al used ANFIS to predict physical concrete property and its durability with nanoparticle; in this study, the author used neural network and some statistical value such as RMSE, 2 to evaluate the accuracy of neural network [14].…”
