A novel single source multilevel inverter with hybrid switching technique

Abstract: Summary A novel multilevel inverter (MLI) configuration with the hybrid switching technique is presented in this paper. The proposed MLI consists of the H‐bridge combination with unidirectional switches, half‐bridges, and transformers. The suggested MLI with the additional cascaded connection increases to higher voltage levels. The number of employed components in this topology is drastically minimized. Therefore, the complexity, cost, and volume of the proposed topology are also reduced. The operation of the … Show more

“…The issue of having several sources in an inverter can be overcome by using a transformer-based MLI (TMLI). [11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18] In TMLI, the total power required to provide an electrical load is alone supplied through a single DC source. Recent past several structures for TMLI have been presented.…”

“…These flexible TMLI topologies have been presented to minimize component count, and these circuits use basic seven-level units to build the inverter. Further, the circuits presented in previous works [14][15][16][17][18][19] are suggested for grid-connected and industrial applications. These TMLIs are constructed for nine-level on the output side with reduced switching devices.…”

“…Multiple control approaches exist for multilevel inverters [9][10][11]. Due to the intricacy of capacitor charge balance, the emphasis in this research is on nearest level control approaches between several presented control methods in literature.…”

“…To get the high gain in the load voltage using a single input DC source in MLIs, many topologies have been proposed based on the SC method 14–17 . In SC‐MLIs, the required number of active switches leads to an increase in system size, cost, and complexity 18 .…”
