Abstract-Determination of PV model parameters usually requires time consuming iterative procedures, prone to initialization and convergence difficulties. In this paper, a set of analytical expressions is introduced to determine the five parameters of the single-diode model for crystalline PV modules at any operating conditions, in a simple and straightforward manner. The derivation of these equations is based on a newly found relation between the diode ideality factor and the open circuit voltage, which is explicitly formulated using the temperature coefficients. The proposed extraction method is robust, cost-efficient and easy-to-implement, as it relies only on datasheet information, while it is based on a solid theoretical background. Its accuracy and computational efficiency is verified and compared to other methods available in the literature through both simulation and outdoor measurements.

Resumo -Conversores não isolados aplicados a sistemas fotovoltaicos normalmente possuem algumas vantagens em relação aos conversores isolados como redução de custos e melhor eficiência devido, principalmente, à ausência de um transformador. Neste contexto, uma alternativa para o processamento da energia obtida pelos painéis fotovoltaicos é o uso de um autotransformador multipulsos associado a retificadores controlados com ângulo de disparo entre 90°-180° (inversores comutados pela rede). Esta solução possui algumas vantagens como robustez, baixa manutenção, alta confiabilidade e baixo custo, além de ser muito adequada para geração fotovoltaica em locais remotos onde estas vantagens são mais importantes que a redução de volume. Outra importante característica é que a associação dos enrolamentos do autotransformador gera sistemas trifásicos defasados entre si, reduzindo a quantidade do conteúdo harmônico das correntes injetadas na rede. Este artigo apresenta um conversor de 18 pulsos usando um autotransformador com conexão Y-diferencial fechada. A potência processada pelo autotransformador é apenas 21,9% da potência total fornecida ao sistema, aumentando a eficiência e reduzindo o custo total. Palavras-Chave LINE-COMMUTATED INVERTERS ASSOCIATED TO A MULTI-PULSE AUTOTRANSFORMER FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC GENERATIONAbstract - Non-isolated converters applied in photovoltaic (PV) systems usually have some advantages over the isolated converters, like reduced cost and better efficiency mainly due to the absence of a transformer. In this context, one alternative for the processing of energy acquired by PV modules is the use of non-isolated multipulse autotransformers associated to controlled rectifiers with a firing angle between 90°-180° (line-commutated inverters). This solution has some advantages like robustness, low maintenance, high reliability and low cost and it is very suitable to PV generation in remote areas when these advantages are more important than the size reduction. Another important feature is that the association of the autotransformer's windings generates three-phase systems displaced each other, reducing the amount of the harmonic content in the currents injected into the grid. This paper will present an 18-pulse converter using an autotransformer with Y-differential connection. The power processed by autotransformer is only 21.9% of the total power provided to the system, increasing the efficiency and reducing the overall cost. This paper proposes an improved generalized method for evaluation of parameters, modeling, and simulation of photovoltaic modules. A new concept "Level of Improvement" has been proposed for evaluating unknown parameters of the nonlinear I-V equation of the single-diode model of PV module at any environmental condition, taking the manufacturer-specified data at Standard Test Conditions as inputs. The main contribution of the new concept is the improvement in the accuracy of values of evaluated parameters up to various levels and is based on mathematical equations of PV modules. The proposed evaluating method is implemented by MATLAB programming and, for demonstration, by using the values of parameters of the I-V equation obtained from programming results, a PV module model is build with MATLAB. The parameters evaluated by the proposed technique are validated with the datasheet values of six different commercially available PV modules (thin film, monocrystalline, and polycrystalline) at Standard Test Conditions and Nominal Operating Cell Temperature Conditions. The module output characteristics generated by the proposed method are validated with experimental data of FS-270 PV module. The effects of variation of ideality factor and resistances on output characteristics are also studied. The superiority of the proposed technique is proved.
