A Novel Reputation System for Mobile App Stores Using Blockchain

Abstract: With thousands of mobile applications submitted to online application stores the mobile application market has experienced a significant growth. This growth is however accompanied by an increase in malware presence which is detected after infecting users or when a it is reported to the store. A possible solution would be to leverage those reports, across all mobile ecosystem, creating a shared reputation system, to provide more accurate feedback to the app stores quality assurance and security teams. To suppor… Show more

“…From the results presented in figure 6, it is observable that increasing the number of transactions possible within a block, increases the throughput. This behavior was expected and is in line with various other Hyperledger Fabric TPS evaluations [34]. In this case, the maximum TPS was achieved at 150 transactions per block during writing operations (CreateIntervention) with 46,7 TPS and at 175 transactions per block during the read operation (GetInterventionByID) with 55,4 TPS.…”

“…Any change in the hardware running the network could then achieve completely different test results without changing the network model. The performance results obtained are similar to the results other implementations achieved [34]. However, it is important to analyze that the structure of the network and the hardware specifications of the test environment are different from system to system and these two factors have a great deal of importance in performance variance, therefore, comparing performance results from different test environments might be ineffective.…”

“…There are some other researches related with decentralized reputation systems focusing on areas other than e-commerce. Mendes et al built a reputation system on blockchain for storing reviews of mobile applications on application stores and processed these reviews on cloud-based systems [17]. Although it looks similar, there are many different characteristics of mobile application reviews and e-commerce reviews.…”
