A novel prognostic model based on urea cycle-related gene signature for colorectal cancer

Abstract: BackgroundColorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. This study aimed to develop a urea cycle (UC)-related gene signature that provides a theoretical foundation for the prognosis and treatment of patients with CRC.MethodsDifferentially expressed UC-related genes in CRC were confirmed using differential analysis and Venn diagrams. Univariate Cox and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression analyses were performed to identify UC-related prognostic… Show more

“…In contrast, serum CysC has been monitored in several clinical studies, showing a strong association with GFR estimation [ 66 , 67 ]. In fact, higher levels of serum CysC and a decline of the GFR function are closely linked, hence representing a reference standard for kidney injury in critically ill AKI patients [ 64 , 68 ]. In addition, increased concentration of serum CysC has been also associated with increased HbA1c levels in diabetic patients who did not show any signs of kidney damage [ 69 ].…”

“…In this research, network pharmacology and combined bioinformatics were used to analyze the targets of traditional Chinese medicine extracts quercetin and kaempferol, construct and screen the interaction network between drugs and CRC pathogenic genes, and finally screen three prognostic related genes: CDKN2A, SERPINE1, and MMP3 [74][75][76][77][78][79].…”

“…We used expression levels and coefficients of feature genes to construct a final Riskscore prognostic model. The calculation formula of the specific Riskscore prognostic model was as follows: Riskscore = 1ncoef)(genei*geneexpression)(genei, where “coef” represents the coefficient of the signature gene obtained by multivariate regression analysis, and “expression” represents the expression level of the signature gene [17].…”
