A Novel Poly-N-Epoxy Propyl Carbazole Based Memory Device

Abstract: Generally, polymer-based memory devices store information in a manner distinct from that of silicon-based memory devices. Conventional silicon memory devices store charges as either zero or one for digital information, whereas most polymers store charges by the switching of electrical resistance. For the first time, this study reports that the novel conducting polymer Poly-N-Epoxy-Propyl Carbazole (PEPC) can offer effective memory storage behavior. In the current research, the electrical characterization of a … Show more

“…The memory storage capability of poly-N-epoxy-propylcarbazole (PEPC) was studied in a single layer memory device. [131] Specifically, the electrical properties of a single layer memory device utilizing PEPC in pristine form were compared with the TCNQ complexed analogue. Apparently, when TCNQ was introduced, the memory switching behaviour of PEPC was enhanced, enabling faster switching at lower voltages.…”

“…Herein, carbazole (Cz) units, widely explored in memory research, were also introduced as the functional pendant owing to their large conjugated planarity and hole transporting characteristics. [28][29][30] Meanwhile, nitro substituted carbazoles (NCzs) were designed as electron-acceptors in consideration of the same sp 2 hybrid nitrogen atoms in Cz/NCz units (Fig. 1).…”
