A novel perceptual two layer image fusion using deep learning for imbalanced COVID-19 dataset

Abstract: Background and Purpose COVID-19 is a new strain of viruses that causes life stoppage worldwide. At this time, the new coronavirus COVID-19 is spreading rapidly across the world and poses a threat to people’s health. Experimental medical tests and analysis have shown that the infection of lungs occurs in almost all COVID-19 patients. Although Computed Tomography of the chest is a useful imaging method for diagnosing diseases related to the lung, chest X-ray (CXR) is more widely available, mainly due to its lowe… Show more

“…Though medical cardiology is critical, recent advancements in data mining and machine learning techniques have created significant diverse domains [ 14 ]. Many medical data are accumulated every day, and researchers have tested their algorithms [ 15 ]. Developing countries suffer from a significant number of deaths caused by heart malfunctioning [ 16 , 17 ].…”

“…Our method not only showed strong performances for both indoor and outdoor scenes, but it also showed a strong generalization ability under different point densities and various lighting and weather conditions. Our method could also bring new inspiration to the field of image fusion [33]. Although our method achieved promising results, this paper did not explore the impacts of different network architectures on the final performance.…”

“…To overcome the imbalanced data problem in the image domain, an approach has been proposed [29]. This approach uses perceptual two-layer image fusion by Deep Learning (DL) to get a new image that more informative than the input images.…”
