A novel PC‐Based Automatic Aging System for Plasma Display Panel

Abstract: A novel PC‐based automatic aging system (AAS) is presented to automatically age plasma display panel (PDP). The AAS has been built for Acer Display Technology, Inc., Taiwan. The experimental and practical tests give satisfactory results and illustrate that the PC‐based aging system has been effective in reducing the available manpower as well as cost, and increasing the quality, efficiency, and repeatability of the aging job.

“…Many researches on plasma display panels have been published to date, including basic characteristics measurements of gas discharges [1]- [3], improvements of luminous efficiency of PDPs [4], [5], new sustain driving technologies and driving waveforms for PDP system [6]- [9], and algorithms for image quality promotion. Among these contributions, the most attractive issues are how to decrease the total power losses and to increase the luminous efficiency.…”
