A novel method for evaluating the validity of dynamic accuracy test pieces for five-axis machine tools

Abstract: The detection method for direct machining the standard test pieces, which is commonly employed to exhibit the machining precision of five-axis machine tools, can truly reflect the dynamic accuracy of five-axis machine tools in the actual machining process. Existing theories on explaining the phenomenon that the ability of S-shaped test pieces to detect dynamic accuracy for five-axis machine tools are stronger than those of NAS979 test pieces mostly used the qualitative research methods, and they cannot be quan… Show more

“…where s u; ð Þ theoretical envelope surface, R cutter is the radius of the cylindrical milling cutter, and n s (u, v) is the unit normal vector on the axis trajectory surface S tool (u,v). When the expression of the ruled surface uses the first form in the formula (1), the unit normal vector of the ruled surface can be obtained using the formula (20).…”

“…According to the steps shown in the Figure 2, the influence of machine tools errors on the profile of test pieces can be studied. Using the interpolation method presented in 'Interpolation continuity processing of tool axis trajectory surface' section and equation (20), ideal flank milling envelope surface which is the ideal reference surface can be calculated from cutter locations file. According to equation ( 26), the any ideal point P ideal on the ideal flank milling envelope surface is determined by specific u 0 and v 0 .…”

“…CNC machine tool is one of the complex electromechanical products, improving its quality has been a research hotspot. [20][21][22][23] Due to the complex coupling relationships among quality characteristics, 11 the variation of a QC will affect others, which will lead to serious quality risk problems of CNC machine tool, such as processing efficiency and processing quality, and even personal safety. Actually, the decoupling analysis of QCs is very important to improve the stability of product quality.…”
