A novel lncRNA, TCONS_00006195, represses hepatocellular carcinoma progression by inhibiting enzymatic activity of ENO1

Abstract: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies and has an unfavorable prognosis. The hepatitis B virus X (HBx) protein has been reported to be closely associated with hepatocarcinogenesis. Meanwhile, emerging evidence has indicated that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in the pathogenesis and progression of cancers. Our previous investigation has demonstrated that HBx could promote HCC by regulating the expression levels of various lncRNAs. In this study, we identified an lncRN… Show more

“…18 Previous studies have indicated that ENO1 promotes malignant biological behaviour of tumour cells by activating glycolysis and the PI3K/Akt pathway in non-small-cell lung cancer and glioma cells. 19,23,24 This study is the first to show that FGFRL1 is involved in SCLC. 22 More importantly, some lncRNAs and proteins have been reported to interact with ENO1 to regulate its expression or activity in tumours.…”

“…22 More importantly, some lncRNAs and proteins have been reported to interact with ENO1 to regulate its expression or activity in tumours. 19,23,24 This study is the first to show that FGFRL1 is involved in SCLC. We demonstrated that FGFRL1 was up-regulated in multidrug-resistant SCLC cells compared with the parental sensitive cells.…”

“…8 Several studies on cancer cells showed that raised ENO1 can result in the promotion of cell proliferation. 9,10 However, the mechanism of ENO1 regulation has not been well studied yet.…”

“…Numerous studies have showed that lncRNAs widely participate in the cell proliferation, invasion and apoptosis [4][5][6] . The lncRNAs located in the nuclear and cytoplasm may exhibit different functions ADDIN EN.CITE 11 . As reported, lncRNAs located in the nucleus can function as scaffolds to bring proteins to form ribonucleoprotein complexes and as guides to recruit chromatinmodifying complexes to target genes [6][7][8] .…”

“…The lncRNAs located in the cytoplasm can function as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) to modulate the depression of miRNAs targets through competitively binding miRNAs 9,10 . For instance, the TCONS_00006195 located in the nucleus can represses the progression of liver cancer by repressing the activity of ENO1 11 . lncRNA MIR31HG located in cytoplasm can suppress the development of HCC by binding to miR-575 12 .…”
