A novel lncRNA n384546 promotes thyroid papillary cancer progression and metastasis by acting as a competing endogenous RNA of miR-145-5p to regulate AKT3

Abstract: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as important regulators in the development of cancer cells. However, the role and mechanisms of most lncRNAs in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) remain unknown. In this study, we investigated lncRNA expression profiles of PTC using RNA-seq in two groups of PTC tissues and adjacent normal tissues, and validated by real-time PCR analysis in another 53 pairs of tissues. We identified a novel lncRNA, n384546, which is highly expressed in PTC tissues and cell lines. n3845… Show more

“…From our perspective, most of the reported lncRNAs were abnormally upregulated in PTC samples and cells and have negative impact on outcome of PTC patients. For the cellular and molecular mechanisms, these lncRNAs may closely associated with some cell functions such as proliferation, migration, apoptosis, and invasion by regulating numerous signaling pathways . In this study, we focused on a new lncRNA called LINC00311, which was previously reported to be highly expressed in osteoclasts and elevated the expression Notch2 and TRAP mRNA .…”

“…Increasing studies have shown that lncRNAs participate in the initiation and progression of cancers, including PTC. 11,28,29 In this study, we found that CASC9 expression was elevated in human PTC tissues and cells. It facilitated the proliferation and metastasis of PTC via modulating miR-488-3p/ADAM9/ EGFR-Akt axis.…”

“…Also, lncRNAs have been linked to cancer-related behaviors such as proliferation 8 , stemness 9 , 10 , and metastasis 11 , 12 . Mounting lncRNAs have been illustrated to participate in PTC, such as PTCSC2 and n384546 13 , 14 . DOCK9 antisense RNA2 (DOCK9-AS2) is identified as an important lncRNA related to atherosclerosis 15 .…”
