A Novel LaFeO 3-x N x Oxynitride. Synthesis and Characterization. -The title compound is prepared by ammonolysis of LaFeO3 in a stream of NH3 using N2 as carrier gas (900°C, 72 h). The LaFeO3 precursor is obtained by a combustion method starting with an aqueous solution of the corresponding metal nitrates and glycine as ignition promoter (1. slow evaporation at 100°C; 2. heating to 250°C where ignition takes place; 3. calcination at 900°C, 10 h). The product is characterized by powder XRD, SEM, IR, and Raman spectroscopy. LaFeO3-xNx oxynitrides are stable in air at room temperature and start to decompose above 550°C. -(GALLEGO*, G.
