A novel intranasal mouse model for mucosal colonization by Streptococcus suis serotype 2

Abstract: Streptococcus suis causes meningitis and various other diseases in pigs and humans. Healthy piglets carrying virulent Streptococcus suis strains on their mucosal surfaces are epidemiologically very important.
