“…Similarly, the AON passes deep and medial to the psoas muscle at the level of L5. Moreover, weakness due to quadriceps femoris (QF) muscle involvement often impedes mobility in the immediate postoperative period and increases the fall risk [21,34,35].…”

“…We read with interest the Letter to the Editor by Aydin et al on the use of pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block for surgical anesthesia for vein ligation and stripping. 1 Recently, there have been several letters to the editor describing the use of PENG block for anesthetic purposes. 2,3 We would like to highlight some points regarding the PENG block technique and indications.…”

“…We read with interest the article by Chanowski and collaborators, published on the pages of this journal, on an opiatesparing approach involving the siting of erector spinae plane catheters to achieve fast-track coronary artery bypass graft surgery with only acetaminophen, gabapentin, and one single dose of 10 mg of oxycodone for postoperative analgesia. 1 Integrating a multimodal pharmacologic approach with regional anesthesia could prove an intelligent solution to the ongoing opioid crisis. Over-reliance on opioids for pain management starts perioperatively and extends post discharge.…”

“…Although, it is debatable, whether PENG block (Pericapsular nerve block) is pure pericapsular block[ 14 ] or not,[ 15 ] still, there is a scope for newer indications for PENG block. [ 5 6 7 8 9 ] Therefore, it is prudent to explore other approaches that can affect its efficacy, safety, and usefulness. With our results we can conclude that landmark-based technique is a feasible option to give PENG block when ultrasound is not available.…”

“…[ 6 7 ] Other than its perioperative use and analgesia for hip surgeries, PENG block has been used for surgical anaesthesia to reduce the dislocated hip and varicose vein striping procedure. [ 8 9 ] There is still a scope to increase its use in other surgical indications. However, use of ultrasound for PENG block is a limiting factor.…”
