A Novel Hybrid Multi Criteria Decision Making Model: Application to Turning Operations

Abstract: Abstract:Multi criteria decision making models (MCDM) are extensively used in material and process selection in engineering. In this study, a novel hybrid decision making model is developed. Best-Worst method (BWM) is hybridized with TOPSIS, Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) and Weighted Sum Approach (WSA). Developed hybrid models produce similar results in different weight value of decision makers so they are combined. The model is tested in a turning operation and an optimization study is conducted by using Tag… Show more

“…Another study by [48] introduced the interval rough BWM-based Weighted Aggregated Sum Product ASsessment (WASPAS) and Multi-Attributive Border Approximation area Comparison (MABAC) models for the evaluation of third-party logistics providers. An integrated model including the BWM, TOPSIS, Gray Relational Analysis (GRA), and Weighted Sum Approach (WSA) was proposed for turning operations [49]. For web service selection, [50] employed the BWM, VIKOR, SAW, TOPSIS, and COmplex PRoportional ASsessment (COPRAS).…”

“…These methods include analytical hierarchy process (AHP), analytical network process (ANP), fuzzy logic, multiobjective optimization based on ratio analysis (MOORA) method and technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method and so on. (Basheer et al (2008); Singaravel and Selvaraj, 2015; Abbas et al , 2019; Sofuoglu and Orak, 2017; Khan, Maity; Khan and Maity, 2016; Khan and Maity, 2017d). Apart from this, some hybrid and innovative techniques, namely fuzzy-TOPSIS, fuzzy-MOORA and ANP-TOPSIS were also reported in order to confirm better solution of a specific problem (Khan and Maity, 2018b).…”

“…Five methods consisting of MOORA, TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution), BWM (Best-Worst Method), WSA (Weighted Sum Approach) and VIKOR (ViseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje) were used simultaneously for multi-objective optimization of turning four different materials including AISI 4140, AISI 1040, Al-7075, Al-2024 [19]. The methods of TOPSIS, WSA, GRA were mixed for the multi-objective optimization of the turning operation with three different materials including AISI-1010, AISI-1050, Al-7075 [20], etc.…”
