A novel general risk assessment method using the soft TOPSIS approach

Abstract: Risk assessment is a systematic method of identifying and preventing product design and production planning process problems. It is a critical step in the risk management procedure. Most current risk assessment tools use failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA) to evaluate the risk of failure. The traditional FMECA method uses linguistic terms to represent the severity, occurrence, and detection on a numerical scale from 1 to 10. It cannot deal with the incomplete information of attribute data. … Show more

“…Consumers are worried about food contaminants, agricultural and veterinary pesticide pollutants, viral, chemical, and physical contamination, radionuclide radiation, and unsafe and inappropriate food processing and packaging processes, any of which can introduce hazards to food at any stage in the food chain, from primary production to the end consumer. Consumers in developed nations pose the most concerns on these topics, but developments in global connectivity have piqued market interest in these issues all over the planet (Chang, 2015;Nazam et al, 2015).…”

“…Liu et al (2016a) improved efficiency of the traditional FMEA method using matrix theory and fuzzy diagraph technique and applied it to a real case of valve mechanism in a power plant to indicate superiority of method in the priority ranking of FMs. Chang (2015) applied a novel soft TOPSIS approach to calculate more accurate priorities for FMs in group decision-making problems with imprecise and subjective information. Carpitella et al (2018) reported a modified FMEA method for risk evaluation of FMs by using FTOPSIS and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) methods in maintenance activities with complicated systems.…”
