“…A further study revealed that adsorbed U(VI) and Th(IV) ions on the EIR column can be sequentially eluted with 5 mL of 0.5% (w/v) Na 2 CO 3 and 5 mL of 2.0 M HCl. In addition, it is very suitable for rapid preconcentration of uranium and thorium from large volumes of aqueous solutions up to 3 L. Also, in comparison with other SPE methods [16,26,27,29,[41][42][43][44]51,52], the present method has high preconcentration factors, good RSD and very low detection limits. The results also indicated that samples with complicated matrices like seawaters could be analysed successfully by the presented method since matrix ions can be easily eliminated.…”

“…In this work, owing to the precipitation of metal hydroxide in higher pH values, the influence of this factor on the preconcentration process was studied over the range 1.0-8.0 [44]. The results showed that the degree of sorption for Th(IV) was close to 100% at the pH ranges of 2.5-2.7 and 4.7-5.…”

“…Amberlite series resins were generally employed as solid-phase sorbent with and without functionalisation to preconcentrate in a variety of metals include Cu, Co, Ag [25], U(VI), Th (IV) [26], Cu, Mn, Zn [27], Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu [28], Co [29], Bi [30], Cu, Ni, Pb [31] Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Co [32] and speciations of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) [33,34]. Complexes of some transition elements include La(III) were retained on octadecyl silica before their measurements by ICP-OES [35].…”

“…The basic principle of SPE is the concentration and purification of analytes from solution by sorption on a solid sorbent. Several previous studies have been reported for the selective separation and preconcentration of Th(IV) ions from various analytical matrices using polymeric supports impregnated with selective organic extractant [13][14][15][16]. The SPE method using ion-imprinted polymers (IIPs) are the most popular methods for separation and preconcentration of trace metals [17][18][19][20][21].…”
