A Novel Double-Winding Permanent Magnet Flux Modulated Machine for Stand-Alone Wind Power Generation

Abstract: This paper proposes a novel double-winding flux modulated permanent magnet machine (FMPM) for stand-alone wind power generation. Based on the flux-modulating effect, a concentrated winding set and a distributed winding set can be artfully equipped on one stator component. This makes the proposed machine possessing much simpler structure than traditional double-winding double-stator PM machines. Comparative study shows that the proposed FMPM can offer higher torque capability and stronger flux adjustability tha… Show more

“…To avoid such costly converters, another control techniques have to be used for the cage induction generators such as changing the number of poles. Linni Jian, et al [12] proposed a novel double-winding flux modulated permanent magnet machine (FMPM) for stand-alone wind power generation. Based on the fluxmodulating effect, a concentrated winding set and a distributed winding set could be artfully equipped on one stator component.…”

“…The modulating ring rotor consists of a certain number of ferromagnetic pieces, the numbers of which are N m . In order to ensure the normal operation of the CMG, N m is governed by the sum of p i and p o [22,23]. As shown in Figure 1c, the positive direction of the torque and the rotational speed is specified in the counterclockwise direction.…”
