A novel control method for enhanced performance of single‐phase matrix converters

Osamah Al‐Dori,
Ahmet Mete Vural

Abstract: The conventional topology of direct single‐to‐single‐phase matrix converter (SSMC) is widely adopted in industrial and power system‐related applications owing to its desired features. Current control methods in the literature either limit the voltage transfer ratio (VTR) or prohibit their utilization to drive inductive (RL) loads. In this study, we propose a novel control method that overcomes these limitations by enabling the SSMC to achieve relatively high VTRs while driving RL loads with negligible output v… Show more

“…They also got involved in frequency and phase angle measurement applications in [3,4]. ZCD circuits are usually built using optocouplers [5,11,19], operational amplifiers (op-amps) [19][20][21][22][23], or voltage sensors [6,10,24,25]. Optocoupler-based ZCD circuits provide the required level of isolation, however, they use diodes that lead to delayed ZCD due to the forward voltage drop.…”

“…Various studies have been conducted to propose different MLI topologies, including cascaded H-bridge (CHB), flying capacitor (FC), and neutral-point clamped (NPC) converters [18][19][20][21][22]. Among these traditional MLIs, the PUC-based MLI represents a promising structure, as it combines the advantages of both CHB and FC configurations [23,24]. Ounejjar proposed the PUC-based MLI for the first time in 2011 [25].…”
