A Novel Carboxyethyltin Functionalized Sandwich-type Germanotungstate: Synthesis, Crystal Structure, Photosensitivity, and Application in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Abstract: A novel sandwich-type germanotungstate [C(NH2)3]10[Mn2{Sn(CH2)2COOH}2(B-α-GeW9O34)2]·8H2O (1) represents the first single crystalline polyoxometalate (POM) functionalized by open chain carboxyethyltin, which was designed and synthesized in aqueous solution and applied to a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) for the first time. Its photosensitivity was explored through a fluorescence spectrum (FL), surface photovoltage spectrum (SPV), electrochemical method, and solid diffuse spectrum. 1 displays the primary feat… Show more

“…Fig. 3c shows the Bode EIS spectra of the symmetric dummy cells and the t values (t ¼ 1/ (2pf) [32], f is the peak frequency correspond to charge-transfer process) are listed in [33], where R is the gas constant, T is the absolute temperature, n is the number of electrons involved in I 3 À reduction (n ¼ 2), F is Faraday's constant, R ct is charge-transfer resistance obtained from the Nyquist EIS plots. Apparently, the sequence of R ct values from Tafel polarization curves is in an agreement with that from EIS plots.…”

“…[31] Reports about polyoxometalates synthesized through microwave irradiation are few but meaningful;i th as provided an ew way of thinking in polyoxometalate synthesis, [32] and chemical reactions under microwave assistance have been proved to be efficient and ecofriendly. Although extensive research has been carriedo ut among sandwich-like polyoxometalates owing to their particular applications in magnetism, [36][37][38] catalysis, [39][40][41] luminescence, [42,43] and solar cells, [44] this is the first time it has been employed in lithium-ion batteries. “…Recent years, the introduction of organic functional groups to TMSP has became a hot research field and drew more and more attention [16][17][18][19][20]. Generally, migrate functional organic groups to TMSP framework can not only produce new properties on the resulting hybrid compounds but also offer new coordination site to further construct expand structure and devices, whereas, despite these extraordinary advantages, related research is still rather slow [21][22][23].…”
