A Novel Approach to Multi-Apertures and Multi-Aspects Ratio Light Pipe

Abstract: Daylightophil architecture concept is one of the most significant ways to reduce the electrical load consumption in building sector. In deep-plan buildings, or windowless buildings, advanced light transmission systems are used to compensate lighting demands in highperformance architecture theory. The manuscript is to challenge recent innovations in the light transmission systems, the choice of their type should be commensurate with the architectural design, space performance, and design requirements. Light pip… Show more

Architectural design methods are constantly changing and architects have always sought to introduce design techniques based on information technology, advanced materials and also environmentally friendly, which causes a change in the design process of architects from emphasizing form to function.…”

“…In practice, Goharian and Mahdavinejad (2020) note that deepplan buildings, or windowless offices, require advanced light transmission systems to compensate for lighting demands for effective performance. Interestingly, technological advancements in lighting, ventilation, and air conditioning are also rapidly providing supportive solutions to physical openings in institutional buildings, resulting in the planning and design of windowless offices.…”

“…Tubular daylight systems contribute to the reduction of electricity consumption by utilizing daylight from the sun, which is a renewable energy source, instead of electrical energy consumption. They can efficiently carry daylight to indoor environments (Balabel et al, 2022;Goharian & Mahdavinejad, 2020). These systems consist of three elements; a collector that follows the path of the sun or directs the light into the tube to recover as much light as possible; a tube that carries the light to the area to be illuminated by a transport technique depending on the optical properties of its material (lenses, reflective tube, prismatic tube, and solid core system); it may contain bends that naturally affect the performance of some pipes), a diffuser that transfers the light into the room to be illuminated at the tube exit (Baroncini, Boccia, Chella, & Zazzini, 2010;Carter, 2002;Malet-Damour et al, 2020;Wu, Jin, Li, Zhang, & Ma, 2009;Zhang, Muneer, & Kubie, 2002).…”
