A novel approach to modeling tissue-level activity of cortisol levels according to the theory of Endobiogeny, applied to chronic heart failure

Abstract: Abstract. Background: Chronic heart failure (CHF) is an inflammatory disorder in which cortisol plays an important role. Despite this, cortisol is not routinely quantitatively measured for a number of reasons. It is considered non-specific. Accuracy and validity remain in question. It is not considered convenient or cost effective. Finally, tissue level effects of cortisol do not correlate linearly to quantitative levels. If the functional, tissue level effectiveness of cortisol could be modeled, its evaluatio… Show more

“…It was elevated on admission, lowered significantly at discharge, and further lowered at 6 months with the mean value being chronically elevated. Hedayat et al produced similar findings when evaluating the cortisol index in patients with the heart failure of different etiologies and the New York Heart Association (NYHA) 2-3 functional classification [21]. Serum cortisol is not routinely measured post-AMI.…”

“…The theory of Endobiogeny is an integrative physiologic approach to medicine [9,12]. On the grounds of this theory, researchers claim to have developed a method to evaluate cortisol activity by using elements of complete blood count with its differential (CBCD) [9,21]. This study aims to compare the prognostic value of the cortisol index of Endobiogeny with serum cortisol in patients diagnosed with AMI.…”

“…In the existing literature, certain BoF indices have been analyzed in patients with myocardial infarction, COVID-19 infection, or heart failure [ 28 , 29 , 30 ]; however, we could not find any data about BoF indices in a kidney transplant recipient population. Therefore, the aim of this study was to calculate some of the BoF indices in kidney transplant recipients, enabling the analysis of the relationship between the BoF indices and biopsy-proven transplant rejection.…”
