A novel approach for induced out-of-season spawning of Eurasian perch, Perca fluviatilis

Abstract: In this study, the systematic development of a protocol allowing an effective advanced spawning of wild Eurasian perch with the use of salmon gonadoliberin analogue (sGnRHa) was undertaken. The novel approach used in this study involved the application of a strategy of the repeated administration of sGnRHa (i.e., the hormone was given in two doses: priming and resolving) along with an additional thermal stimulation of ovulation. Additionally, the developed protocol was tested for its suitability in the control… Show more

“…Here, eating larvae ensured healthy larvae to a few extents. Subsequently, 11 DPH onwards, the temperature was increased by 1°C per day until 23°C, which is considered the optimal temperature for the growth of perch larvae 58 . After the first feeding and before the last feeding, the tanks were cleaned, and dead larvae were counted.…”

“…Lastly, the OSS is realized through the induced spawning of offspring produced by OSS, which is named the new-fish method. The compression method is the most commonly used approach and succeeds in several groups of fish, including salmonids, percids, moronids, gadids, and cyprinids ( Malison et al, 1998 ; Migaud et al, 2002 ; Wang et al, 2010 ; Żarski et al, 2019 ).…”
