Abstract:Polyomaviruses are small, non-enveloped double-stranded DNA viruses of humans and other mammals, birds, and fish. Infections are usually asymptomatic and result in latency, however, some polyomaviruses can induce severe diseases, including cancer, in immunocompromised individuals.
