Abstract: This article introduces a novel and compact design of an ultra‐wideband (UWB) printed monopole antenna with an enhanced bandwidth and dual band‐stop performance. A modified π‐shaped slot has been inserted in the ground plane to exhibit a wide impedance bandwidth of 116% (ranging from 3.1 to 11.2 GHz), whereas dual stopband responses (at 3.5 and 5.5 GHz) are obtained by embedding three I‐shaped stubs and a pair of modified Γ‐shaped slits in the radiating patch.
