A Novel Aluminum‐Based Metal‐Organic Framework with Uniform Micropores for Trace BTEX Adsorption

Abstract: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are potential porous adsorbents for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX). A novel MOF, using low toxic aluminum (Al) as the metal, named as ZJU-620(Al), with uniform micropore size of 8.37 0.73 Å and specific surface area of 1347 m 2 g À 1 , was synthesized. It is constructed by one-dimensional rod-shaped AlO 6 clusters, formate ligands and 4,4',4''-(2,4,6-trimethylbenzene-1,3,5-triyl) tribenzoic ligands. ZJU-620(Al) exhibits excellent chemical-thermal stability an… Show more

“…It was synthesized according to our previous work. 24 In detail, H 3 TMTA (11.00 mg, 0.023 mmol), Al(NO 3 ) 3 •9H 2 O (12.80 mg, 0.034 mmol), and 0.40 mL of formic acid were mixed in 1.30 mL of DMF. This mixture was put into a 50 mL Teflon vessel and heated up to 130 °C for 72 h. After cooling to room temperature, the white crystalline products were obtained, washed with DMF and acetone for three times, and dried in the oven for 24 h at 80 °C.…”

“…The morphology of ZJU-620(Al) was rod-shaped (Figure S3a), using scanning electron micrographs instruction (SEM) technology, in agreement with pervious reported. 24 The Al, C, and O elements of ZJU-620(Al) were uniformly distributed from energy dispersive spectroscope (EDS) linear scans (Figure S3b) and EDS mapping images (Figure S3c). Transmission electron microscope (TEM) images were tested at 80 kV, using JEM-1400 flash.…”

“…Stimuli-responsive MOFs are novel porous materials that combine the advantages of inorganic and organic chemistry. MOFs have unique structures that can respond to changes in solvent, [33][34][35][36] temperature, [37][38][39][40] pH, [41][42][43] light, [44][45][46] chemical substances, [47][48][49] and thus, they have become an excellent choice for creating stimuli-responsive materials. This article utilizes 2′,5′-diethoxy-[1,1′:4′,1″-terphenyl]-4,4″dicarboxylic acid (DTDA) and TbCl 3 •6H 2 O to construct a solvent-responsive MOF with rod secondary building units (SBUs), {[Tb(DTDA) 1.5 •2H 2 O]•DMF•8H 2 O} n (AQNU-4).…”
