A Novel Algorithm for Fast and Adaptive Maximum Power Point Tracking of Wind Energy Generation System

Abstract: Keeping wind energy conversion system (WECS) running on maximum power point (MPP) can make full use of wind energy. In this paper, authors put forward a novel hybrid maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm which combines three points comparing (TPC) method with power-signal feedback (PSF) method. WECS based on doubly-salient electro-magnetic generator (DSEG) is used to validate the effectiveness of proposed algorithm. The whole WECS is simulated in Matlab/SimuLink, simulation results obtained confirm tha… Show more

“…"> PSF and HCS Wang et al 14 proposed a new intelligent maximum wind extraction algorithm by combining the PSF method with the HCS method, it did not require the measurement of rotational speed or wind speed, it was independent of system characteristics, and was available for both large and small wind turbines. OT and HCS Kazmi et al 42 employed the optimal power curve of the OT method to detect the peak value and adopted the adaptive variable step disturbance to gradually shorten the step size so that the system could reach the peak operation position. TPC and PSF You et al 67 used the TPC method to search the maximum power point under different wind speeds, adopted the curve fitting method to fit the maximum‐power‐curve, and utilized the PSF method to realize MPPT. This combined algorithm could improve the search speed. Fuzzy algorithm According to the research in Hong and Lee, 40 the fuzzy logic control method has the advantages of fast convergence, insensitive parameters, and acceptance of noise and imprecision signals.…”

“…Under the background that coping with global climate change has become the international mainstream issue, energy transformation with the development of renewable energy as the main content has become the development strategy of many countries and regions [1]. In the last few decades, among numerous renewable energy resources, wind energy is known as one of the most dominant and significant resources [2]. Nowadays, distributed wind power is a natural mode of wind power development, which is an important way to achieve the harmony of wind power development with regional economic and social development and natural environment protection [3].…”
