A note on the inventory model with time-varying demand and shortages

Abstract

In this technical note we further discuss two important aspects concerning the uniqueness of the critical points for the inventory model with complete backlogging in a finite planning horizon in the paper of Hariga published in the journal of Computers and Operations Research. Some affirmative suggestions are offered and some counterexamples are given to illustrate why the assertions of Hariga have problems.
