A note on the difference between the Moro reflex and the startle pattern.

Abstract: Pratt's identification of the Moro reflex with the startle pattern is wrong, since the former is an extension response and the latter a flexion response. The former is slow, the latter immediate. The former is confined to the first few months of life, the latter persists throughout life.
