A note on the continuous self-maps of the ladder system space

Abstract: Abstract. We give a partial characterization of the continuous selfmaps of the ladder system space KS. Our results show that KS is highly nonrigid. We also discuss reasonable notions of "few operators" for spaces C(K) with scattered K and we show that C(KS) does not have few operators for such notions.

“…In most developing countries, as Correa notes, 'the innovation systems are fragmented and weak, and they overwhelmingly depend on foreign innovations'. 80 Firms in such countries 'follow "imitative" or "dependent" technological strategies, usually relying on external sources of innovation, such as suppliers, customers and competitors'. 81 As such, 'a patent regime based on a low inventive threshold could be functional to the predominantly incremental innovation path prevailing in developing countries, as patents might encourage minor innovations developed by domestic companies'.…”

“…The argument here is that the 'formulation of a patent regime … should not be dissociated from the characteristics of the national innovation system of the country where such regime applies'. 90 This is the point that the Policy seems to miss.…”
