Professors are often asked by local church ministers to suggest new or recent books in their particular fields. As a special feature, we will periodically run briefly annotated bibliographies for the disciplines taught at Southern Seminary. Nashville: Convention Press, 1986.124 pp.An excellent guide for use by lay committees to collect church and community information for planning purposes.Callahan, Kennon L. Twelve Keys to an Effective Church. San Francisco: Harper and Row, 1983.127 pp.A best-selling book organizing the planning process for congregations. A superb book with many practical insights into relational and functional keys for congregational leadership. The chapter on visitation is worth the price of the book. It best fits white, mainline congregations.
