A New Time-Window Prediction Model For Traumatic Hemorrhagic Shock Based on Interpretable Machine Learning

Abstract: Early warning prediction of traumatic hemorrhagic shock (THS) can greatly reduce patient mortality and morbidity. We aimed to develop and validate models with different stepped feature sets to predict THS in advance. From the PLA General Hospital Emergency Rescue Database and Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III, we identified 604 and 1,614 patients, respectively. Two popular machine learning algorithms (i.e., extreme gradient boosting [XGBoost] and logistic regression) were applied. The area under … Show more

“…Intervertebral disc is a fibrocartilage disc located between adjacent vertebral bodies, which has great elasticity and toughness. Due to the existence of intervertebral disc, the spine can perform forward flexion, backward extension, and lateral flexion [ 26 ]. The human lumbar intervertebral disc is the thickest, and the articular surface of the lumbar facet is almost sagittal, so the flexion and extension activities of the waist are flexible, but the rotation movement of the waist is limited, and the axial rotation range of the waist is small, only 5°.…”

“…12 If medical staff can identify the condition of traumatic massive hemorrhage early, intervene quickly, and actively adjust the treatment strategy, the disability and mortality rate due to massive traumatic hemorrhage may be reduced, and outcomes of severe trauma may be improved. 13 Blood transfusions are frequently administered during the resuscitation of severely wounded combat casualties, especially within the rst 6 to 12 hours, when death from hemorrhage is most likely to occur. [14][15][16][17] The classic de nition of massive transfusion (MT) was de ned during the Vietnam War as the transfusion of 10 units of blood in a 24-hour period.…”

“…Without intervention, the patients can develop sequential organ failure, coagulation dysfunction, and even death due to insufficient blood perfusion in a short time. If medical staff can identify the condition of traumatic massive hemorrhage early, intervene quickly, and actively adjust the treatment strategy, the disability and mortality rate due to massive traumatic hemorrhage may be reduced, and outcomes of severe trauma may be improved [ 5 ].…”
