A new theory of gravitation

Abstract: A new theory of gravitation is developed. The theory is equivalent to that of Einstein in the description of macroscopic phenomena, and hence the situation is the same so far as the classical tests of general relativity are concerned. The new theory differs in its global implications, however. There are two main differences of principle. In the usual theory, the negative sign of the constant of proportionality –8 πG which appears in the field equations R … Show more

“…The energy density on the brane remains constant due to the energy flow from the bulk. Our model is very similar to the steady state model of cosmology [20]. The main differences are that the energy density is not spontaneously generated, and the Hubble parameter receives an additional contribution from the "mirage" field χ (see equation (3.10)).…”

“…The actual situation is rather complicated and the details depend crucially on the form of T (ρ). Assuming that T (ρ) = Aρ ν with A < 0, the exact solution of equation (3.19) for ν = 1, 3/2 is 20) wheret = |A|t. For ν = 1 the solution is 21) and for ν = 3/2…”

“…It was proposed by Hoyle, Burbidge and Narlikar in 1993 [12]. This is cosmological solution for Machian theory of gravity proposed by Hoyle and Narlikar in 1964 [13] with periodic creation of matter. The line element of QSSC can be represented as,…”

“…In the past few decades, there have been numerous suggestions based on different arguments that the gravitational term G is indeed time dependent (Dirac 1938;Brans and Dicke 1961; Hoyle and Narlikar 1964). Dirac first explored this interesting and provocative possibility in 1937 motivated by the numerology uncovered by Weyl, Eddington and Dirac himself.…”
