“…The reliability of block bone grafting for alveolar cleft patients was determined by recent studies, while shortcomings were lack of long-term follow-up and control group (Luque-Martin et al, 2014; Du et al, 2018; Van Nhan et al, 2018). In the present study, the cancellous iliac bone graft was set as a control, and all cases were followed up for 2 years.…”

“…A trimmed cortical bone was used to cover the particulate bone graft in alveolar cleft, which could prevent excessive bone resorption (Theologie-Lygidakis et al, 2014). Recently, 2 pieces of iliac corticocancellous bone block grafting technique were reported to treat alveolar cleft patients (Van Nhan et al, 2018). In the present study, the block bone we used consisted of outer cortical and inner cancellous bone.…”

“…Longevity or success can be assessed from several aspects [18]. In this review, the criteria for implant longevity were osseointegration and preserved function at clinical evaluation.…”

“…Prior to tertiary grafting, all patients will have the Oral Hygiene Index-Simplified (OHI-S) recorded followed by conduction of oral prophylaxis [11]. Following standard procedure guidelines, bone grafting will be done by a single operator using either an autologous symphyseal bone graft or iliac bone graft, depending on the amount of bone required [12][13][14]. Before proceeding with implant surgery, the OHI-S will be re-assessed and compared with the previously recorded observations.…”
