A new systems engineering structured assurance methodology for complex systems

Abstract: As technology advances, systems behaviour becomes more difficult to predict and control, resulting in a lack of systems assurance across the supply chain. Here we describe a structured approach to address the assurance of complex systems developed and operated within highly regulated environments. The new approach is based on a methodology that can address both new and legacy systems, and influences system intervention. We propose an enterprise approach by observing the importance of all organisational contrib… Show more

“…The mixedmethod is chosen based on the system engineering approach. System engineering provides a design solution and predicts from a technology that will be analyzed (Farnell, Saddington, & Lacey, 2019). The system engineering approach is a quantitative method that requires measurable variable data, output variables, and others.…”

“…It is recommended to introduce airworthiness in the design stage (Gratton, 2018). In addition, it is important to ensure both system performance and safety to fully understand the risk exposure (Farnell, et al, 2019). A holistic approach is therefore required to strike the right balance between risk, cost and capability.…”

“…The solution to a problem can be obtained by means of the system analysis. That is to say, the enterprise (on micro-level) or region (on macro-level), as the object of investigation, has to be discussed as a complex system [5].…”
