A new step‐up DC‐DC converter with high gain for photovoltaic applications

Abstract: Using interfacing converters with a high boost factor and high efficiency is essential for utilizing the solar cells energy since these energy sources produce low voltage levels. Although employing a high‐frequency transformer or coupled inductors in such converters results in high gain, these elements increase the weight, volume, and cost and affect the efficiency. This article presents a new topology for DC‐DC converter with a high voltage gain to overcome the mentioned problems. The converter provides a hig… Show more

“…To overcome this limitation, quadratic gain and modified quadratic gain converters are introduced. [12][13][14][15][16][17] Modified quadratic gain converters with a gain of (1 + D)/(1 À D) 2 , where D is duty ratio, are reported in previous studies. 12,13,16 A converter with a gain of (3 À 2D)/(1 À D) 2 is reported in literature.…”

“…Modified quadratic gain converters with a gain of (1 + D )/(1 − D ) 2 , where D is duty ratio, are reported in previous studies 12,13,16 . A converter with a gain of (3 − 2 D )/(1 − D ) 2 is reported in literature 15,16 . This quadratic gain converter can achieve a higher voltage gain only when the duty ratio D > 60%.…”

“…20,21 According to this proposed research concept, the proposed converter can accept both AC/DC supplies and also deliver power to AC/DC load,; because the converter is more flexible, it can perform all four types of power conversion with minimal number of switches. This same operation is performed with more number of switches, 22,23 but proposed converter can perform all four operations in bidirectional with less switching losses. Proposed work is devoted with novel idea of generic or universal operation for energy storage system.…”
