Abstract: Abstract.A new species of leafcutter bee, Megachile (Litomegachile) droegei Sheffield & Genaro, new species, is described from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Megachile droegei is one of 12 species in this New World subgenus, and is part of the M. brevis species group (with M. brevis Say, M. onobrychidis Cockerell, and M. pseudobrevis Mitchell). “…Since Sheffield et al . (2011b) revised the 38 species in Canada, Bzdyk (2012) and Sheffield and Genaro (2013) raised two subspecies to species ( M. snowi Mitchell and M. cleomis Cockerell, respectively), resulting in 40 species in Canada. In all, 43 barcode index numbers have been recorded, but one species, M. umatillensis (Mitchell) has no barcode index number associated with it, M. gemula Cresson and M. relativa Cresson each have two, and M. pugnata Say has three (supporting subspecies).…”

“…Though geologically young, this is the first report of three-dimensionally preserved Megachile nest cells that shows rare preservation and life-stages. The pupal morphology, nesting behavior, and cell construction of LACMRLP 388E best match M. gentilis, a member of the native Nearctic Litomegachile Mitchell [24] , a subgenus that today ranges from southern Canada to Cuba and southern Mexico [5] , [25] , [26] .…”

“…About 70% of the papers were on several aspects of the systematics of both living and extinct taxa. A total of three genera Gonzalez et al, 2013bGonzalez et al, , 2013c, two subgenera (Engel, 2013e;Engel et al, 2013b), and 19 species were published, including four fossil species and five cleptoparasites (Engel, 2013b(Engel, , 2013c(Engel, , 2013dEngel & Breitkreuz, 2013;Engel & Packer, 2013;Gibbs & Dumesh, 2013;Griswold, 2013;Sheffield & Genaro, 2013) (Table 1) (Figs. 1-6).…”
