A new species of Hercostomus Loew, 1857 (Diptera: Dolichopodidae) from Turkey

Dolichopodidae (Diptera) of Inner West Anatolia (Turkey) with a new species record

“…As a result of this study, 54 dolichopodid species were recorded as new for the Inner West Anatolia and with previous records, (Tonguç, Barlas, 2011;Tonguç et al, 2013;Tonguç et al, 2016aTonguç et al, , 2016b) the total number of dolichopodids of the Inner West Anatolia increased to 77 species. Neurigona suturalis is a new record for the Turkish dolichopodid fauna.…”

Hercostomus anatoliensis was described in 2016 by Tonguç et al (2016b) and was known previously only from the Afyonkarahisar, The number of species belonging to the family Dolichopodidae identified in Turkey increases to 201 with this new record. It is estimated that the actual fauna of Dolichopodidae of Turkey is in the range of at least between 350 and 400 species.…”
