“…No species of Jassa has been confirmed to exist at such great depth and Jassa is known to contaminate seawater systems in ships and aquaria (see the Distribution section for transhemispheric species). As a tube-liver on shallow-water solid substrates, J. valida does not have the morphology for deep living, such as eye and coxal reduction, longer and slenderer pereopods and weaker sexual selection of the second gnathopod than in shallower species (Kodama & Kawamura 2019). A similar mis-interpretation of deep-sea collections by Kröncke (1994Kröncke ( , 1998 is reported by Sirenko (2004).…”

“…The family Aoridae is one of the families in the infraorder Corophiida (Lowry and Myers 2013), and is characterized by the enlarged male gnathopod 1 and the elongate pereopod 7 (Myers and Lowry 2003). In Japanese waters, a total of 27 species of the family have been recorded: 1 species of Aora Krøyer, 1845 (Hirayama 1984); 9 species of Aoroides Walker, 1898(Ariyama 2004a); 1 species of Bemlos Shoemaker, 1925 (Kodama and Kawamura 2019); 11 species of Grandidierella Coutière, 1904 (Ariyama 1996(Ariyama , 2020; Ariyama and Taru 2017); 3 species of Paragrandidierella Ariyama, 2002 (Ariyama 2002(Ariyama , 2013; 1 species of Pseudobemlos Ariyama, 2004 (Ariyama 2004b); and 1 species of Tethylembos Myers, 1988(Ariyama 2004b. Closer examination of the newly collected species has revealed they are undescribed species of Aoroides and Grandidierella.…”
