“…No PECB foi encontrado apenas no rio Temível, dentro da área 4. Espécie descrita recentemente com ocorrência no Estado do Paraná e Sul do Estado de São Paulo (Lingnau et al 2008). Devido a pequenas diferenças no canto de anúncio a espécies está com sua identificação a confirmar.…”

“…asper by the first time by in the municipality of Guaraqueçaba may have been a mistake. Some years previously, Lingnau et al (2008) described this species from a nearby municipality in the state of Paraná, Morretes, which is less than 90 km from Guaraqueçaba, and discussed the geographic distribution of Hylodes asper (Müller, 1924). For many years, herpetologists believed that the geographic range of H. asper extends from the state of Santa Catarina to the state of Rio de Janeiro, although this species has often been confused with H. perplicatus (Miranda-Ribeiro, 1926) (Lingnau et al 2008).…”

“…The new species is distinguished from all other species in the genus by the following combination of characters: (1) thumbs without nuptial excrescences; (2) oblique lateral fold continuously extending from supratympanic fold to groin; tubercles absent ventrally to the oblique lateral fold; (3) light oblique lateral stripes usually evident from shoulder to groin, which become gradually more apparent as they approach the posterior part of the body; (4) venter mainly light with anastomosed or small dark spots weakly defined (Fig. 2B); (5) small size (SVL of males 5 22.9-25.8 mm, and SVL of females 5 26.4-28.0 mm; variation reported in Table 3); (6) paired lateral vocal sacs, which widely expand externally in adult males; (7) advertisement call with the following parameters: call duration 5 1.36-3.83 s; intercall duration5 5.91-19.42 s; Pavan et al 2001;Lingnau et al 2008; personal observations), a continuous oblique lateral fold, an evident light oblique lateral stripe, and absent tubercles ventral to the oblique lateral fold (species within the H. nasus group exhibit light tubercles scattered in the oblique lateral region and lack an oblique lateral fold and light oblique lateral stripe; Pavan et al 2001;Lingnau et al 2008;personal observations Table 4). The call notes of H. amnicola are emitted at a higher rate (18.1/s) and in shorter duration (0.015-0.034 s; Pombal et al 2002).…”

“…Species in the genus Hylodes are distributed throughout the Atlantic forest in eastern Brazil from the State of Espírito Santo to the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Sazima and Bokermann 1982;Nascimento et al 2001;Lingnau et al 2008). Hylodes species are rheophilic with reproductive biology strongly associated with fast streams (Nascimento et al 2001;Pombal et al 2002;Lingnau et al 2008).…”
