A New Species of Cyclocephala Dejean (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Dynastinae) from Eastern Mexico, with New Records for Mexican Species of Cyclocephalini

New Records of Scarab Beetles1 from the State of Campeche, Mexico, with Comments on their Agricultural and Ecological Importance

“…Main work on Pleurosticti scarabs of Campeche is that of Morón et al (1997) where 15 species were reported for the state, which was followed by Morón-Ríos and Morón (2016) recording 29 additional species, and finally, Chamé-Vásquez and Salas-Suárez (2020) who compiled information and presented a list of 43 species. With addition of the six new records here and records of Cyclocephala discolor (Herbst, 1792) (Delgado and Mora-Aguilar 2020), Homophileurus tricuspis Prell, 1914 (Guzmán-Vásquez et al 2021), and Phyllophaga hondura Saylor 1943 (Delgado-Solano et al 2015) found in the literature but were not in previous work, the fauna of Pleurosticti Scarabaeidae of the State of Campeche, Mexico comprises 52 species in 24 genera, 11 tribes, and five subfamilies (Table 1). The numbers, however, will probably continue to increase, because neighboring states report higher species richness (Chamé-Vásquez and Salas-Suárez 2020).…”

Los escarabajos Dynastinae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) de Oaxaca, México: lista actualizada de especies y análisis de su distribución

“…Como consecuencia de varios trabajos recientemente publicados, en donde se reportan nuevos registros de distribución, nuevas especies y sinonimias (Delgado y Mora-Aguilar, 2020;Hielkema, 2017;López-García et al, 2016, 2018Moore et al, 2015Moore et al, , 2018Ratcliffe y Cave, 2015;Ratcliffe et al, 2013;Romero-López y Morón, 2017), se tiene que a la fecha, la fauna de Dynastinae de México está integrada por 29 géneros y 188 especies, de los cuales Oaxaca cuenta con 22 géneros y 98 especies, que representan 75.86% y 52.12% de la riqueza genérica y específica nacional. Esto significa que Oaxaca alberga poco más de la mitad de las especies de México, ocupando el tercer lugar a nivel nacional, después de Chiapas y Veracruz, con 103 y 102 especies, respectivamente (tabla 8).…”
