Abstract: A new species of black fly, Simulium vanellum, is described and illustrated from the female, male, pupa, and larva collected in Thong Pha Phum District of Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand. It is morphologically most similar to Simulium indicum and Simulium nigrogilvum, and is tentatively placed in the Simulium griseifrons species group.
